Some suggestions for SBI Pasighat
Dear Editor,
Despite several humble talks for improvement of transaction services and customer
dealing, SBI Pasighat Branch is yet to look after the interest of the general customers.
So far as my observation, customers stand on queues waiting for the cashier for hours
together. Not all but some particular cashier have no ears to hear the interrogations,
no eyes to see and no lips to say “wait please” to their customers. It appears they
are yet to find this word in the dictionary. To avoid crowd and misbehaviour of some
particular cashiers customers rush to ATM and face the same crowd. After pull and
push in queue, the lone ATM booth at Pasighat Town which I think was purchased from
scrape yard-
Former M.P Mr. Yonggam has also highlighted this problem earlier in the news paper with suggestions. But there is no sign of response till date.
But SBI must improve its services in the town. To avoid crowd inside the bank, present
ATM booth be maintained properly and three other new ATM Booth at JNC Pasighat complex,

Support the cause he is fighting for
Dear Editor,
Our country witnessed a historic event with the start of the modern satyagrah, this time not against an individual, or a ruler, or a foreign power, but against the corrupt system and the corrupt government of our own country. Baba Ramdev along with thousands of his followers gathered in the Ramlila Maidan for a peaceful protest with anashan. But it was unfortunate to witness the unconstitutional and dictating actions of the central government, which directed the Delhi police, led by top officials to destroy the peaceful protest. Around 11.30pm on June 4th when all the innocent protesting people were sleeping empty stomach, hundreds of policemen put the pandal on fire and started to lathicharge the protesters with full brutality. Men, women, children, senior citizens everyone was beaten up without any mercy. After witnessing this event, do you still think that we are living in a democracy? Where is the democracy and constitutional rights we talk about when such a peaceful protest is destroyed with such brutality? It is a sheer misuse of power.
When we went through the news and tried to debate on this on social networking sites, it was surprising to find most of our Arunachali youth friend’s views were against the noble movement. The first thing they questioned was “why is Baba Ramdev mixing Yoga with politics? I ask “where is the politics in this movement? Did he ask us to join his political party or is he asking for our votes in the election? No. What all he wants is us, the youth to support him in this war against the corrupted and inefficient system of our country. And it is our sheer responsibility and fundamental duty towards our nation to support him in this noble cause. Many of us think what he is trying to achieve is madness, a joke. I want to ask them have you people gone through the demands?” If demanding for a corruption free nation, if demanding for an efficient law to punish the rapists, the adulterators and the corrupted people, and if demanding for the millions of crores of black money of India deposited in the European banks to be brought back in India ,is a joke, then so be it! But it is not a joke for others. There were desperate allegations from government about Baba Ramdev’s properties and his associate and close Acharya Balakrishna’s nationality. But why is the dictator government wasting its time and energy in investigating Ramdev’s noble trust’s properties which has been used in the development and well being of the people, all around the world. Why don’t they investigate and bring back the black money of our country stored in the European banks? Who cares of what nationality Balakrishna is if he works for a noble cause? Also I found a certain sect of our Arunachali youth thinks that we don’t need a Baba, a yoga teacher wrapped in saffron attire to start a revolution for us. I find this statement communalistic and sarcastic.
We really did need someone to start the revolution for us and Baba Ramdev did for us. If you feel it shouldn’t have been person wearing saffron attire, than I feel that would be a communalistic view. It isn’t the right time to sort out our communal differences when we should fight united in this war against corrupted system. A perfect opportunity for the youth of Arunachal, and the whole of India to show their power and anger within against the corruption and black money. The thousands of crores of black money of our country deposited in the European banks if used for the development can change the face of the country. What happened in the Ramlila Maidan was injustice and the culprits need to be punished. It is nor a fight against a government or an individual , it is a fight against the system.
Government may come and go but strict laws are needed to be framed so that corruption does not penetrate. I request the Arunachali youth not to live in darkness, don’t stay numb. Speak out what you feel, extend your moral support if not physically. Let’s be a part for the war for a change, for a better Arunachal , a better India. If you aren’t a Baba fan, or his follower, you don’t need to be, don’t support him, and support the cause he is fighting for. And for the people who still think Ramdev’s movement is worthless, ask yourself what have you done to stop corruption, nothing!! nor have I! But at least I am supporting the person who has started the revolution against the social evil. Today corruption cannot be stopped by self consciousness alone, social consciousness is a necessity. Let us stand united against all odds supporting Baba Ramdev and his followers to make the movement a successful revolution. Why should we stay numb when the biggest war against corruption is on?

Centre approves two highway projects
in Arunachal
New Delhi, June 9: The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure today approved widening
of two existing trans lane roads in Arunachal Pradesh under Build Operate and Transfer
(BOT) basis involving a cost of Rs 3556 crore for civil construction, acquisition

Boat distributed to villagers at Namsai as monsoon approaches
ITANAGAR, June 9: To keep villagers prepared for coming monsoon flood problem in river island area of Dharampur and Ekorani area, 6 boats were given to representatives of island villages Dharampur, Lekang Gohain, Rajabheel, Rongalibheel, Dirakmiri and Ekorani villages.
While distributing the boat ZPM lower Lekang Padmeswar Neog at a function thanked Minister PHED & WS Chowna Mein, for providing fund for manufacturing of boat. He also highlighted the importance of this type of boat in rescue and evacuation during flood and emergency like drowning incident.
In the same function, a 3 room semi RCC school building was handed over to School Management committee (SMC) of Dharampur village which was restored at the initiative of the Minister. During last year flood, the temporary self constructed school building was eroded away by Dehing River.
DoNER identifies Pineapple, Ginger and Kiwis as priority areas

Development in the North Eastern Region at New Delhi today, it has been decided to
identify the production and marketing of Pineapple, Ginger and Kiwis as priority
areas. Existing marketing systems will be studied from the point of production to

ABK endorses Pasighat eviction drive

However, the rampant and illegal encroachments and massive land grabbing at Pasighat by some individuals has reduced the government land and its town planning system.
The ABK, district unit strongly appealed to the Deputy Commissioner to stop such encroachment and continue its eviction drive for proper town planning and added that there should not be any discrimination against anyone during the eviction drive.

ITANAGAR, June 9: Expressing resentment over the frequent breakdown of power supply
in Pasighat township and its nearby villages for the last few years, the Action Committee
on Electricity Pasighat urged the Power department to take step within 20 days for
early completion of Aalo-
The 132 KV line was supposed to be completed within the last 5 years but even after a decade, there is no sign of its completion and work progress, which resulted in acute shortage of power supply in Pasighat area, said committee chairman Okom Yosung in a release.
It further said that, the department gave assurance only which has never been materialised.
In a letter addressed to the power secretary the committee threatened to call Pasighat bandh on June 30 if their demand is not fulfilled within the stipulated time.
In another letter to secretary department of Hydro Power Development, the committee demanded the authority to replace the old Turbines of both the Yembung and Sille Micro Hydels with new turbines. The committee said that for early restoration of power supply, replacement of old turbines which remains functionless most of the time is urgently needed. The committee further urged upon the authorities for immediate renovation of Rina mini hydel station to increase its output.

ANSU concerned at recovery of pistol
from RTI activist’s car
ITANAGAR, June 9: All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) has expressed deep concern over reported incident in which pistol was found in RTI activist Payi Gyadi’s car without his own knowledge.
Payi Gyadi in recent month with help of Right to Information (RTI) Act has unearthed many corrupt deals and illegal appointments involving very high profile people including senior bureaucrats and politicians. He has honestly used RTI to expose corruption and illegal appointments in the state, said a Union statement.
The Union appealed to the home minister to take serious note of this incident and launch serious investigation into this incident. We can’t let an innocent and serious RTI activist like Payi Gyadi be framed falsely by corrupt people who looted public money, the Union added.
ANSU General Secretary Arjun Panye in a statement said “it seems powerful people who were exposed by Payi Gyadi, the chairman of Sango Lomte foundation are now gunning for his head. With their attempt to buy him and threaten him not working, now they are trying to frame him in false case. This is very shocking incident and very bad precedent set up by whoever has done. Such a dangerous modus operandi to frame someone is seen only in Bollywood movie. Our tribal society has no space for such cruel and dirty minded people. Case should be fought under law”.

Kri inaugurates extended classroom
TEZU, June 9: MLA cum Parliamentary Secretary Transport Karikho Kri inaugurated the classroom extension of Primary School in ALC Line in Tezu, Lohit district today. Funded by the SSA and MLA LAD, it also included the inauguration of a school prayer hall.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Kri requested the district administration to take up the encroachment of ALC Line and Tezu Khola Land. While discouraging use of opium, the MLA described the ALCs as the true work force behind implementing any developmental works.
Kri also highlighted the importance of the primary school in ALC and responded to the public memorandum.
While assuring every possible step for a polling station in ALC line, Tezu, Kri further said that the demand for drainage system, provision of street lights in prime locations, water supply tape will be fulfilled with the help of department concerned in coming years.
Developmental and many more related issues have already been discussed with Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin, the MLA added.
